8 Hacks to step up your Nail Game

February 27, 2017

I’m gonna be honest, I am the clumsiest person when it comes to doing my nails: I always make stains, ruin the polish because I move too much and chip the nails after 1 day already. This is exactly why I realized I needed help. I searched all over Google for nail hacks and tested the most promising ones. These are my favorite tested & approved nail hacks! You can thank me later hehe

1. Make your nail polish dry faster by soaking your nails in ice water after painting them.

4.  To prevent the tips of your painted nails from chipping, paint two base-coat layers: one on the top half of your nail and the second coat over the entire nail.

2. No more nail polish marks: put Vaseline around the edges of your nails before painting them to easily wipe away any stray marks without ruining your manicure.

3. Save time polishing your nails with an electronic polisher. Since I started using the MicroNail from Silk’n I saved myself at least 30 minutes per manicure, and the results are much shinier as well!

5Create a marbled effect by using drops of swirled nail polish and a cup of water.
Choose an accent finger and tape underneath and around your nail to protect your skin. Next, fill a small paper cup with filtered, room-temperature water. Grab two different colors of paint and add drops of each polish into the cup of water, alternating paints each time. Once you’ve added a few drops, grab an open paper clip and swirl the layers together to create the design you want. Then, stick your finger into the cup with your nail facing the paint layer. Holding your finger in the cup for a few seconds, use your paper clip to gather the rest of the paint away from your finger. Pull your finger out of the water and clean up the edges for the finished look.

6. Quickly cover up chips in nail polish with a coat of glitter. Choose a pattern or apply glitter polish in varying strengths to achieve a faded effect. My personal favorite is the dusty pink glitter polish from Essie and I like to apply it with a sponge in order to create an ombré effect :)

7. Remove stains on your nails with whitening toothpaste. Scrub it for around 1 minute and your nails are perfectly clean again!

8. Use structures from daily objects to create interesting prints on your nails. For example: lace, feathers, tape, make-up brushes, band-aids, and so on.
