Ever since a hairdresser burnt off my hair 2 years ago, I’ve become paranoid about my haircare. I have a quite extensive beauty routine and lots of products which I apply in the hope they will help my hair recover faster. Right now I got to a selection of items which I gladly use every week, keep reading!
Before you continue reading my list, I want to start by saying that none of the mentioned brands are paying me to recommend their products. Some items I bought myself, some were gifted. Truth is, from the dozens of products I’ve tried in the last 2 years, these are the ones that made the final cut to my ‘favorite list’ because they are GOOD. However, please do keep in mind that every hair type is different, so what might work for me, doesn’t have to work for you. If you have damaged bleached hair, this might be a good blog for you :)
This is a spray that I use in the summer. As I mentioned in this blog about better summer hair, your hair needs just as much of UV protection as your skin! It gives my hair a nice shine without getting greasy and it prevents my hair from drying out in the sun.
This is a convenient mask when I’m travelling because it’s relatively small and compact. Also the odds of leaking are low because of its balmy structure. Plus: it’s pretty cool how it turns into liquid as soon as you touch it.
Since I bleach my hair, it’s nice if it actually keeps that white-ish glow. This shampoo & conditioner have hydrating properties, as well as a hint of purple to correct yellow tones.
This might be my favorite serum of all times. I apply it every single time after I wash my hair and it makes it very soft while drying up. Since I started using this serum, my hair has become increasingly stronger. Note: you can only buy it from your hairdresser.
I scored this serum at a L’Oréal Sale at their headquarters not that long ago. I’m still not 100% if it really works but I do have the feeling that my babyhairs (aka the hairs that break from the bleaching) have been growing longer instead of breaking off again. So I will continue to use it, hoping one day those babyhairs will be normal hairs again.
Since wet hair = easily damaged hair I try to wash my hair only once or twice a week (read more details here). Therefore I use this dry shampoo when my hair starts looking greasy. Perfect finished look PLUS extra volume :)
I’m sure there are many better masks than this, but this mask has a great price-quality balance which makes it perfect for weekly use. I use conditioner and a mask everytime I wash my hair and leave it in for around 5 minutes. Maybe if I’m rich one day I’ll start using the masks from Sebastian haha.
Now that we established the products I use every week: I DON’T use things like hairspray, salt spray or heat spray because I try to reduce my products only to things helping my hair to recover from all the bleaching. I never use a hairdryer, straightner or curler – yes sure, sometimes I would like to have wavy hair, but trying to learn how to make waves (I seriously never even tried before) would already be hurting my hair too much, so instead I learned how to braid :) Also: sometimes I go to bed with mostly dry, but still a little bit damp, hair and do an updo of 2 buns, which results in wavy hair in the morning. Problem solved!
What do you think of the products I use for my weekly haircare? Do you have any better suggestions for me?
Lots of Love,
