#OOTD Back to School! How to rock a Jumpsuit

October 29, 2015

Tomorrow it’s happening for me, I am going back to school! I will start my Master in Art Direction and Creative Advertising at the INSA Business School here in Barcelona, and I am looking forward to it like crazy! That is why I am dedicating today’s #OOTD to a school-proof outfit: simple but classy.

Earlier this week I was visiting the designer Loretta Piovano, who is known for her feminine designs and adding interesting details to the outfits in order to create unique pieces. One of the designs she gave me was this black jumpsuit, which has a gorgeous neckline and a perfect cut… I was immediately in love! The jumpsuit itself is a typical all-black-classic, which gives lots of space to varying styling options.

So for today guys… I NEED YOUR HELP! There are so many cool ways to wear this jumpsuit that I can’t decide which one to choose for my first day of school, let’s check them out:

The Classy Lady

For the first option I went for a feminine style with black heels, a turban and a draped scarf from S Oliver. As a color detail I am holding a bright blue clutch of Karl Lagerfeld, I got it in Paris last fashion week during the presentation of Karl’s new collection… I love it! While wearing this outfit I feel like a true lady who can go to class one moment (perhaps slightly overdressed, but definitely stylish!), and then go for a cocktail with a friend afterwards… who wouldn’t love this combination?!

                                                                      The ‘Too Cool for School’

Another idea is to just completely ditch the lady look and go for a streetstyle with my all-time favorite black Converse sneakers. With a comfy long navy-style cardigan I can comfortably walk around without getting cold and my big backpack can definitely hold any book I might need! Perhaps you might have noticed that the neckline of the jumpsuit changed… while being clumsy and putting it on wrong, I actually discovered that I like this straight neckline too, PLUS the back has a cool detail to it now! I’m not sure if Loretta Piovano had a reversible jumpsuit in mind when she designed this beauty, but it sure works! With the streetstyle look I feel confident and casual, which is also very important for a first day!

Girly Chic

Braids, black derby shoes and a fedora hat… how cute can it get?! To don’t look all too much like a naïve schoolgirl I edged up the look with a leather jacket and my little Moschino bag. I think it sends the message: I’m cute, but don’t mess with me! At least, that’s what I like to believe haha. Personally I love Fedora hats since they make an outfit instantly fashionable. The good ones are hard to find but once you got it… cherish it! In this girly chic outfit I feel stylish and ready to rock my day!

Sporty Monday: How to stay in shape without workout

September 28, 2015

After taking it easy during the summer months it’s time to get back to your weekly routine, including the often dreaded workout time. But don’t you worry! With these five tips you can have a small workout while doing everyday movements. Just so you know, I personally invented all of these techniques and use them every single day

1. Plank Mornings:

You know that moment in the morning when you wake up and the first thing you do is check your phone? Try to lay on your tummy and get into a planking position while doing so! You can make the ‘exercise’ as heavy as you want. If you prefer to wake up easily you can also start with planking on your knees or even just pulling up your tummy while laying down, it activates the muscles

2. Wait for it! Squat before you Sit

Let me ask you: How often do you sit down in a day? That’s right… a LOT of times. So now imagine: every single time you want to sit down, wait for a couple of seconds while you are almost on your chair. It’s pretty much like squatting a LOT of times in a day! Go get that beautiful round booty girls!

3. Happy Nights = Happy Body

This one is pretty easy and super logical… You literally have to dance your ass off! Go to some awesome parties and go wild! Bootydrops are pretty much the same as  squats you know… just sayin’. Side note: if you drink too much alcohol it will kinda kill your muscles so try not to drink too much.

4. Tiptoe Stairs

Go get those beautiful calves! Whenever you walk up a stairs, all you have to do is to step with your toes instead of your complete feet and it will train your muscles! So stop using the escalators and elevators… Go for beautiful legs instead.

5. TV Stretching

Chilling all night long in front of the TV with some snacks? Awesome! Instead of sitting like a normal person, try stretching: it lengthens the muscles which will eventually make them slimmer. You won’t get bored with the stretching since you’re being entertained by the TV, what’s not to like?!

There you go! I hope you guys enjoyed reading my tips and that you will actually try some of them. Obviously you won’t get ripped with these mini-workouts, but for me it  actually works great to keep my muscles toned, even when I have ups and downs in my workout schedules!

Did you like these tips? Let me know and I will try to come up with more! Do you have some cool workout tips to share yourself? Help a sister out and comment down below!

Fall Make-up Trends

September 26, 2015

Move over Smokey Eyes! After years of smudgy eye make-up in Fall, it’s time for something new, something fresh! After doing some research I was able to distinguish two specific make-up trends which we will be seeing a lot these months:

Make-up Trend #1: Embrace your Natural Beauty
Women are strong and beautiful! This trend is all about celebrating the female natural beauty,
Especially pure skin is very important in this beauty look. If you have a good skin, all you need is a moisturizing BB or CC cream. If you prefer to do some ‘touch ups’ before going for a light foundation I would recommend using the Concealer Kit of Bobbi Brown. What’s great about this concealer is the fact that it’s very creamy, so it moisturizes the skin and gives a natural glow. Finish off the pure skin look with a pink blush to create a healthy and fresh look.

The eyeshadows are kept neutral with earthy tones such as brown, beige, bronze and gold. The lips are beautiful in a natural soft pink color (my personal favorite is ‘Mellow Rose’ from Max Factor Lipfinity). A great day-to-night switch is replacing the soft pink color for a deep burgundy red… it will give a fun touch! Last but not least: don’t pluck your eyebrows but instead leave them proud and bushy à la Cara Delevigne. There you go, with these few simple steps you got the natural beauty look down!

Make-up Trend #2: Graphic Eyes
The fashion houses sure got creative with black eyeliner for this fall! You can vary between a smudgy black kohl pencil to true art pieces. Do you have a hard time with getting your lines perfect (don’t we all…)? Sephora created the perfect solution with its multi-branded eyeliner kit with different types of liners! Get into the varying possibilities of the liners and just start experimenting, it’s supposed to be fun! Are you worried that pitch black is too dark for your eyes or skin type? Kat von D got you covered: she created a trio package with a black, navy blue and espresso brown liner.

For this specific beauty look it is important for the eyes to pop, which is why the rest of the face is kept very light and neutral. No surprise we find the pure skin look again, just like the fresh blush on the cheeks. For the lips there is not the option to go burgundy red since then the make-up look would get too busy.Fall make-up trends

Personally I am quite excited about these trends since they will fit with anyone and they are very open for interpretation! I know that many of us just have their ‘signature make-up look’ of which we know it looks good on us. But seriously guys, let’s try to get out of our comfort zones and have fun!

Hello Autumn! Celebrating a New Start…

September 26, 2015

As the leafs are falling down, everyone is starting to get back to reality after the lazy summer months. I have been working on the launch of my blog all summer long and for me, the arrival of Autumn represents the arrival of a new start, a new chapter of my life. Just like the autumn leafs I am leaving my old ‘tree’ behind to fly free and change my colors (let’s skip the falling-down-on-the-streets-and-die-slowly part for the sake of the cute metaphor okay?).

Anyhow, I know not everyone is super excited about Autumn since it means it will start getting cold again, but look on the bright side: now we can wear so much more clothes! It’s beautiful outside! HOT COCO WILL BE A THING AGAIN! How much more reasons to celebrate do you need?!

After my Summer Salute  earlier this week, it’s time to welcome the Autumn months! I am sharing an editorial with you guys which I actually shot a couple of months ago. However, it has such an Autumn feel to it that I decided to save it for the right moment because I really love the pictures!

What do you like about Autumn and why? Comment down below and spread the positive vibes!

  1. Gretchen Röehrs

Food for Fashionista’s! Within the crowd of artists on Instagram, Gretchen Röehrs knows how to stand out with her creative fashion illustrations created with merely a few fine lines of ink and… yes you guessed it right… food! This San Francisco-based artist spent a while in New York City working behind the scenes of the fashion world, but soon she decided to pursue her illustration career and moved to the West Coast.

Gretchen Röehrs loves to make her illustrations quirky and fun with her own ‘foodie fashion designs’ as well as with the poses and the expressions of her illustrated models. Her fresh look on fashion illustration caught the attention of Harper’s Bazaar and the Huffington Post, I am predicting a delightful future for Gretchen!

  1. Shamekh Bluwi

Combining his love for fashion, architecture and illustration, Jordan based artist Shamekh Bluwi has taken a simple idea and turned it into something startling beautiful. This illustrator is known for creating cut-out drawings and photographing them in front of beautiful backgrounds. Besides the fact that the illustrations themselves are beautiful, they are also a brilliant tool for coming up with inspiration for new fashion designs: all you have to do is to hold up his drawing and discover possible lines, patterns or images which would look good on a clothing piece.

Shamekh Bluwi is an upcoming illustrator we should definitely keep an eye on. His work has already been recognized by some great designers and celebrities such as Roberto Cavalli, Gigi Hadid, Valentino and Alessandra Ambrioso. He will also be teaming up with established fashion illustrator JaeSuk Kim (number five on this list!) to collaborate on an artwork inspired by the latest D&G Collection.

  1. Sunny Gu

The name of this fashion illustrator couldn’t fit better to her style: in an interview Sunny explained that she tries to put the happiness  which she feels while drawing into the painting by using radiant bright colors and rich details. Her overall aim is to preserve the beauty she sees, and the kindness  she feels around her.

Sunny Gu’s work can easily be recognized by her favorite materials: she loves the vibrancy and the unpredictable nature of watercolor and occasionally uses graphite paint to create textures. The positive vibes that radiate from her illustrations also got noticed in the fashion world: she worked for Vogue, Elle, Versace, Bloomingdales, Carolina Herrera and the list is still growing!

  1. Megan Hess

Perhaps the most famous of this list is Megan Hess, she is an international fashion illustrator who works with some of the most prestigious fashion designers and luxury brands around the world, such as Chanel Dior, Cartier, Montblanc and Tiffany and Co. Her iconic style is recognizable by the use of black ink lines and the drawing of strong and elegant women in amazing outfits. Her illustrations are mainly black & white with a single color accent and always have up-to-date fashion topics.

Her latest project was in Dubai, where the Mall of the Emirates actually rebuilt one of her drawings as an exposition space, how cool is that?! You can also admire her work in her newest book “Coco Chanel: The Illustrated World of a Fashion Icon”.

  1. JaeSuk Kim (JSK)

This particular fashion illustrator is very fascinating since he uses a mixture of several illustrating techniques to create his final artworks. This does not only show his outstanding creativity, but also his capacity to master all these separate techniques. His artworks can be recognized by the mix of graphic design, sketching, watercolors, textures and even photography in some cases! His so-called ‘Susu Girls’ can be recognized by their long, skinny and anonymous portrayals.

As the founder and creative brain behind his personal brand Susu, JaeSuk Kim has been illustrating Susu Girls, which caught the attention of Bloomingdale’s and launched his career. Since then he has worked with, Vogue, Chic Mademoiselle and, among others. Since JaeSuk Kim truly is an amazingly inspirational artist we will definitely be seeing more of him in the future, just wait for it!

Super Salt: 8 ways to use salt for your beauty regime

September 24, 2015

Did you know that our bodies contain the same concentration of minerals and nutrients as sea water? It’s no wonder that sea salt is often used to balance, protect, and restore the body & skin. Now that we will have to miss the salty ocean for a while (bye bye summer!), it’s time to learn a bit more about how to use salt in our beauty regime. I did some research and found some cool head-to-toe tips for you guys, enjoy!

Before you start with DIY beauty treatments, first it’s important to understand the difference between sea salt and ordinary salt! You see, Sea Salt is loaded with minerals such as calcium, sodium and potassium, which play a very important role in our skin’s health. When the mineral balance is off this will result in symptoms such as dryness, dullness and irritation. Especially now that the colder, dryer weather is setting in, it’s perfect to use sea salt to get your minerals back in balance.

1. Anti-Dandruff Scalp Treatment

The Facts: Salt loosens and removes the existing flakes while stimulating circulation for a healthy scalp. It also absorbs excess oil and moisture in order to prevent fungal growth and prevent the root of dandruff.

The DIY: Sprinkle one or two teaspoons of salt on your scalp. Then massage your scalp gently with wet fingers for 10-15 minutes (or even better: let someone else do it for you!). Wash and condition your hair and tadaaa! Immediate results.

2. Balancing Mask

The Facts: Just like salt, also honey has anti-inflammatory properties which help to soothe the skin and calm down breakouts and irritation. The combination of these two ingredients helps to balance oil production and retain hydration.

The DIY: Mix four teaspoons of raw honey with two teaspoons of finely ground sea salt to make a spreadable paste. Apply the paste evenly to clean, dry skin and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Before you rinse off the paste, soak a washcloth in warm water and gently wring it out. Lay the warm washcloth on your face for 30 seconds. Then use your fingers to softly exfoliate in circular motions while rinsing your skin thoroughly with warm water.

3. Facical Toner

The Facts: As we know now, salt helps to deeply clean your pores, to balance your oil production and to prevent bacteria that originate breakouts and acne. Use this toner once or twice a day to keep your skin balanced.

The DIY: It’s easy! All you have to do is to mix 1 teaspoon of sea salt with 2 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and put it in a spray bottle. Make sure you are moisturizing your skin well while spraying it on your face… et voilà!

4. Eye De-Puffer

The Facts: Sea Salt soothes the skin and absorbs excess moisture, exactly what you need to get rid of those puffy eyes!

The DIY: Mix salt & hot water and apply this to cotton pads. Gently place the soaked pads to the area around your eyes to instantly smooth and reduce the puffiness.

5. Chapped Lips

The Facts: For most of us, the cooler weather in the autumn months translates to dry, chapped lips. The rough texture of salt makes it an excellent scrub to remove dead skin and to smoothen the lips. Vaseline is a great moisturizer and protects damaged skin.

The DIY: Mix two teaspoons of salt with one teaspoon of Vaseline and gently massage the mixture into your lips in order to remove dead skin. Take a damp washcloth and remove the mixture . Now put some extra Vaseline on your lips to get them in perfect condition and you are good to go!

6. Relaxing Salt Bath

The Facts: Salt absorbs dirt and toxins which cleanses your skin’s pores deeply. Salt’s mineral content helps to restore the protective barrier in skin and helps it hold hydration. The magnesium in sea salt may also help reduce water retention (i.e., bloating) in the body!

The DIY: It couldn’t be easier! Add one-third cup of sea salt to a tub filled with warm water and move it around till the salt dissolves. Relax in the bath for 15-30 minutes and enjoy!

7. Hand Scrub

The Facts: Just like the lips, also your hands get more dry as soon as the colder months kick in. Making a scrub with sea salt will stimulate the circulation of the skin and to balance the moisture. Using olive oil will give an amazing hydration boost and will help to protect the skin.

The DIY: Mix 2 teaspoons of sea salt with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and use the mixture to gently scrub your hands for 5 minutes. Wash your hands with soap to get rid of excess oil and then apply a hand crème. Immediate and super soft results!

8. Nail Brightening Treatment

The Facts: Salt does not only soften cuticles and skin, it also strengthens the nails. Baking soda and lemon reduce yellowing and stains in order to make the nails look brighter and healthier.

The DIY: Mix 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice with half a cup of warm water in a small bowl. Soak your nails in this mixture for 10 minutes and then scrub them with a soft nailbrush. Rinse your hands and apply a hand crème.

My Summer Salute: Rocking the Navy Look

September 24, 2015
2015-09-07 Navy Look

Even though it has been Autumn now for three days already, I am having a hard time with letting summer go! The sunshine, beaches, flowers, relaxing and not to forget all those amazing summer outfits and bikinis… DON’T LEAVE ME! Anyway, we have to be strong ladies. it’s time to let go and embrace the new season: Autumn! So there we go… this is my official salute to you, oh lovely summer, I can’t wait till we meet again!

The Navy Look can sometimes be a bit tricky since it’s easy to fall into cliché’s but I think I managed pretty well. Of course I stuck to the classic colors: navy blue and white, preferably with some stripes! However, I avoided the typical anchor and strong materials in order to create a more casual and feminine look. The skirt is suede and I love how it feels and moves while walking, it’s so soft! The shirt is also very comfy and has a cool detail on the back, giving the look a fashionable edge. Since I personally like to keep my accessories simple and classy, all I did was adding a small golden bracelet as a color detail and as a reference to the gold/yellow anchors which usually fit with the navy look.

What do you guys think of my summer salute? How did you say goodbye to summer yourself? I would love to get some inspiration so let me know!
