Last week it was 080 Barcelona Fashion Week! Since I moved to this amazing city some months ago I obviously HAD to be there. Flying in straight from a fun weekend in Ibiza, I got home, changed into my fashionable outfit and drove to Montjuic, where the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week was held this week. Let’s check out my looks!
Badass. Oldskool. Hiphop. There are no other words which describe the AW16/17 Collection from Krizia Robustella better. The designer takes us back to the 80’s and 90’s with ‘Black Street’: a tribute to the streets of New York. On the sounds of ‘No Diggity’ the models parade over the catwalk like true rappers, sunglasses and (faux) fur coats included. Move over hipsters, the gangsters are back!
Krizia Robustella describes her own style as “Sport Deluxe”, with which she tries to merge comfort with luxury. Most of her designs are inspired by sportswear with wide fits and flexible materials, but are simultaneously mixed with luxury details such as (faux) fur and leather. Besides the graffiti tags and the watercolor effects, the signature print of this collection is created by Nicasi Torres: the illustrator that provided the black and white portraits as a print for many of the designs. In ‘Black Street’ we can see a variation between jogging pants, mesh dresses, oversized sweaters, sporty leggings and crop tops with matching high-waisted pencil skirts. My favorites of the show were the tight graphic leather dress and the oversized fur sweater dress: both have a beautiful color scheme and are fun to wear!
Furthermore, the overall styling of the collection is done very well with sneakers to emphasize the street style, and the hat with sunglasses to create that ‘badass rapper’ feeling Krizia Robustella is going for. Fun details are the fur hats and bags as accessories, which are the cherries on the pie of ‘Black Street’. This young designer has a vibrant vision, which is very clear while watching her collection rock the runway. Isn’t it fascinating to see how oldskool inspirations can become young and fresh in the right hands? I’m a fan Krizia, and definitely looking forward to seeing more of you!
Check out some of my favorite looks of the show down below, would you wear any of her designs?
After Amsterdam and Paris, last week it was time for Barcelona Fashion Week! Better known as 080, this fashion week is all about offering a platform to upcoming designers and new talents such as Justicia Ruano and Krizia Robustella – two of my favorites shows this season! The first day started good when my outfit (and also Alex’ look!) immediately got noticed by Flash Moda from the Spanish national TV Channel as soon as I walked in! Down here you can see the part where I get interviewed, for the people that don’t speak Spanish: I’m explaining that I’m wearing desings from the local brands Valentina Garí and Maria Roch, and of course my beloved oldskool bag from Ruitertassen!
My favorite show to see that day was Miquel Suay with an amazing menswear collection based around the concept of balanced infinity: elegant, graphic and comfortable! The second day was lots of fun: I met lots of amazing people and the shows were great! It started off with the catwalk presentation of Krizia Robustella, who brought back the hiphop 90’s on the song ‘no diggity‘. After that it was time for Punto Blanco to blow us away with underwear and pyjama’s based on the ‘Superman vs. Batman’ movie theme, sexy and fun at the same time: winner combination! My third favorite of this day was Sita Murt: an established brand which stands for timeless and classy femininity, what’s not to love?!
Today I was also spotted by the press, lucky me! I was asked for an interview for El Periodico (the national journal in Spain) to give my opinion on the 080 Fashion Week in comparisation to other fashion weeks like Paris and New York. They also loved to hear about my outfit, which was again completely from brands in Barcelona! I was wearing some very special trousers from Loretta Piovano in combination with my navy blue coat of Maria Roch and the most adorable clutch from Sarah’s Bag which I scored at Passage BCN! Check out the short article here:
Also I was very happy to meet one of my favorite models backstage one of the shows: Zhenya Katava! Isn’t she gorgeous?!
My last day at 080 I was wearing this beautiful velvet 70’s outfit from Ay Si! Barcelona in combination with my body from Boohoo.com and the most adorable bag from Les Petites Joueurs which I got from Passage BCN. I just LOVE everything about this outfit, don’t you?! Also, I was very lucky to spot the model Sam Steele – the shining star of the Punto Blanco show – in the photobooth in between shows and take a quick snapshot with him, oh my goodness!
It is hard to chose my favorite shows from this day because there were just so many good ones! Of course there was the most important show of 080: Custo Barcelona, which was happy as always with many colors, patterns and textures. However, I might prefer some of the smaller designers such as WOM & NOW, Lebor Gabala and Justicia Ruano. Why you might ask? Probably because I wanted to wear pretty much every one of their designs when I saw them walking down the runway, and the styling of the looks was simply amazing!! Even though 080 was missing two of their biggest catwalk presentations this season (Mango and Desigual both decided not to show this time), there was still more than enough talent to admire these days!
Unfortunately I couldn’t visit the last two days of 080 because I was busy shooting an editorial, which is going to be supercool by the way! Anyway, I can’t wait for next season, when I will be able to show off my summer outfits!
Lots of Love,
