Besides modelling and blogging, I also Vlog! (as you guys probably already knew) This means I make video’s of what I do in a day and this way you can see what the life of a model really looks like. I show that it isn’t all glitter and glamour like a lot of people think. Unfortunately, my vlogs aren’t for everyone, because I speak Dutch in almost all of them. I’ve thought about switching it to English, but I decided to keep it like this. But I’m not the only model who shares her life with the world….
I just bumped into this video of The Try Guys, I already thought they were amazing but this made me love them even more. While watching the video, I saw so many things that I could recognize myself in and I truly wonder how many people realize how terrible many models feel about themselves exactly because of this reason. Let’s go through some quotes from the video:
There are many things that can drive models crazy… castings, people telling you that you’re too skinny, breakouts from unhygienic make-up tools, waiting on set, and so on. Every job has its pros and cons rights? Today we take on the topic of photographers, because even though there are many amazing ones, there are also many photographers that drive models crazy. [start rant]
“Wow, your life is so fun! Shooting new pics every day!”. I hear these things quite often and it’s true: I love my job! However, most of the time models aren’t on set: we are running from castings for days in a row in order to score some jobs. Of course we have to look perfect in order to make a good impression, this is what we take to castings.
Like every other girl I used to love wearing make-up before I became a full-time model: bye bye dark circles, hello pretty cheekbones! Am I right? Every now and then I did some shoots and I absolutely LOVED to walk around with the shoot make-up for the rest of the day because I felt so pretty. However, as soon as I started my full time modelling career after university, I quickly started to understand why the rest of the models I was hanging out with were never wearing make-up.
