Fashion season is over! As you might remember, some months ago I shared a blog on how to prepare best for fashion weeks, so I decided to follow my own advice. You know, just to see what happens. After Amsterdam, Madrid and Lisbon fashion week, I listed the 5 outfits that worked best for the streetstyle photographers, let’s check them out!
Hola Madrid Fashion Week!
After multiple Barcelona Fashion Week’s it was time to make a move to the capital of Spain to see what the fashion world looks like over there. And even though Barcelona is in my heart, I have to be honest…. Madrid was pretty awesome. All the big Spanish designers show there, and the event is perfectly organized. I was invited as international press because I write reports for The Fashion Insider, which meant I got to be part of special press dinners and excursions, lucky me!
The other day I went for a dinner in the vegetarian restaurant Ale & Hop and I decided to take the opportunity of my available boyfriend to also make some #ootd pics of what I was wearing that day! It is actually really simple, but I love to wear these kind of outfits on a casual day out
#OOTD Update: It has been SUCH amazing weather for the past few days here in Barcelona, I honestly don’t even know what to wear because everything feels too hot! Could I just walk in my bikini all day/every day? However, I did find a solution – you know, just in case I cannot actually walk around in my swimwear – … at the moment I am a huge fan of the culotte! They are amazingly breezy, super classy and easy to combine with any kind of tops! I scored mine at the website of ModeMusthaves for just €20,-! My off-shoulder top is from Mango, don’t you just love that Kobalt blue? :)
Since it’s way too hot to wear too much stuff I decided to keep my #OOTD simple with my currently favorite sunnies from Prada, my nude sandals from EGO (seriously an awesome webshop for low priced on-trend shoes!) and my suede nude bag from Martina K.
This week I am graduating from my master in Art Direction and Creative Advertising so wish me luck! I have two projects to finish before it’s SUMMER VACATION! Goodluck to all of you who are also struggling with their final exams!!
Lots of Love,
P.s. Thanks for shooting these pics with me Camilo Ospina!
The name of the AW16/17 collection of WOM & NOW already shows the inspiration for this winter: ‘Bloomsbury Road’ is all about British Class. This road, located in London, has been the home to numerous historical institutions, gardens, and cultural spots for centuries now, and is known to be an area for the fashionable upper class. The label explains:
Elegant lace and a rich combinations of textures: the Victorian trend is clearly the main inspiration from Justicia Ruano in her AW16/17 collection ‘Orion’. After many years of designing for big brands, the creative director decided to start her own label in 2009, with which she wants to reinvent her own interpretation of contemporary luxury and femininity. Justicia Ruano is known to spend a lot of time on the quality of her materials and the craftsmanship of the designs, which definitely shows in the final result!
As the designers likes to describe it herself, the collection ‘Orion’ is “a festival of fabrics with controlled volumes”. A returning motive is the use of vinyl in combination with Chantilly lace, which results in beautifully fragile designs. This soft femininity is contrasted with structured lurex, sending out the message of independency and strength. With black, dark purple and shiny copper & silver as dominating colors, we can find the connection to the star sign Orion: they are a reflection of a dark starry night. A subtle touch which also emphasizes the theme is the application of circles on the lace which used in many designs, could they represent stars?
Besides the fact that Justicia Ruano is 100% staying true to her individual style, she still manages to also stay completely in the trends for the upcoming winter with pleated skirts, shimmering materials, transparence and (faux) fur. And isn’t that exactly what makes a designer truly brilliant? It was hard to decide which one of the designs was the true showstopper of the collection, as many of her looks made quite an impression. Our favorites are the gracefully flowing purple dress and the copper blazer dress.
All in all it’s hard to categorize ‘Orion’: historical yet modern, fragile yet strong, subtle yet a statement, Justicia Ruano’s collection is the ultimate merge, the best of all worlds, or should we say it’s… ‘out of this world’?
Hey there y’all!
Every year when Christmas is getting closer I seem to develop certain habits such as: playing Michael Bublé’s Christmas album on repeat while singing and dancing around my room, staring at every single christmas decoration I can find in shops and in the streets because it is just THAT pretty, loads and LOADS of christmas shopping AND last but not least, I seem to get obsessed with the colors Burgundy Red & Gold!
This year is not an exception, as you can see! This modernized Kimono made by the brand Kimonea has a beautiful deep shade of burgundy which happens to fit perfectly with my lipstick, lucky me! The material is 100% wool so it’s super soft and warm, perfect for beating the icy winter breeze :) Since ‘oversized layering‘ is in Trend right now I decided to go for a larger size, which the owners of Kimonea made for me by hand! Aren’t they the sweetest?! Kimonea is all about designing different versions of the Japanese Kimono and has an amazing way of modernizing them along with the trends of the moment, very creative and original! If you are someone that is into the current Poncho Trend, this is definitely something for you :)
Furthermore, I kept the outfit simple and cute (if anyone has been following my #OOTD’s, you must have realized by now that’s my signature style haha!) with an oversized soft peach sweater from H&M and a faux-suede skirt from Double Agent which make the Burgundy color pop out. Since I was missing a ‘Gold Touch’ in my outfit, I took the golden ring which I got from my mother when I turned 21 as a small color accent, it never fails!
Anyway, I would LOVE to hear from you guys if you develop certain habits when Christmas is getting closer. Do you have a favorite color to wear around this time of the year? Don’t forget to leave a comment down below!
Lots of Love,
Do you already know the new Trend for this Winter? Besides the Layered Trend there is a color we won’t be able to avoid the upcoming months: Grey! I will have to be honest to you guys… I have never been a huge fan of grey, it makes me look so pale. However, after I realized I won’t be able to avoid this color anymore, I decided to dig in and experiment with different combinations.
As you can see not my full outfit is grey, by combining it with another basic color such as black and not wearing anything grey close to my face, I was able to avoid looking pale. Win for Lynn! However… this grey pants from Cortefiel definitely is the showstopper of my outfit by combining not one, not two, but THREE trends! Introducing: the grey, sporty 70’s pants!
As you might be able to see the fabric of this flared trousers is a very soft material which is mostly used for jogging pants… a.k.a. it feels like you are walking around in your PJ’s all day long, can it get more awesome?! In fact yes, yes it can. The cut of the trousers is very flattering for your legs which makes them look super long and thin.
I love how this outfit is in fact super simple, but still is a great fashion statement to wear while walking down the street on a casual day. My currently favorite fedora hat is from Mango and the thin turtleneck sweater is from Primark. To accessorize I am wearing a simple silver ring from Amor and nothing else,, I prefer minimalistic jewelry
I am very curious what you guys think about my Tripple Trend Experiment, especially since neither of them are necessarily my favorite! However, after experimenting and putting this outfit together I might fall in love with these trends after all. I guess the key is to make the trends fit with your personal style, and for me this outfit proves that it’s definitely possible!
Lots of Love,
